Terms of Service

Last updated: 19 May 2026

By creating an account or using nlit you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the service. These Terms form a contract between you and nlit.

1. Who can use nlit

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your country if higher, to use nlit. By registering you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you are using nlit on behalf of a company or organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your password or allow others to access your account. Notify us immediately at support@nlit.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Subscriptions and payment

nlit is offered on a subscription basis with Free and paid plans. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually as selected at checkout. Annual plans are billed upfront for a full 12-month period.

14-day money-back guarantee

If this is your first paid subscription on nlit, you may request a full refund within 14 days of the initial charge by emailing support@nlit.app. This applies once per account and does not apply to renewals or AI credit top-up pack purchases.

Consumers in the European Union and United Kingdom additionally retain the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under the EU Consumer Rights Directive and UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, where applicable.

Failed payments enter a 23-day grace period with automatic retries via Stripe Smart Retries. If payment is not recovered within this period, your account is downgraded to the Free plan and you lose access to paid features. Your account and projects are preserved — you can re-subscribe at any time to restore access. Note that plan-tier retention applies after downgrade: features like translation history and audit logs that fall outside the Free-plan window described in our Privacy Policy may become inaccessible until you re-subscribe.

You may cancel your subscription at any time from the billing page. You retain access until the end of the current billing period. We do not issue refunds for unused time on renewals.

Plan changes. When you upgrade to a higher tier mid-billing-period, we charge the prorated difference between the two plans on the day of the change. When you downgrade to a lower tier, the prorated credit for unused time on your previous tier is applied to your next invoice as a credit — it is not refunded to your card. Plan changes do not affect any AI credit top-up packs or key packs you have previously purchased; those remain attached to your workspace.

All prices are in USD and exclusive of applicable taxes where required by law.

4. AI auto-translate and content ownership

When you use AI auto-translate, your source strings are sent to Anthropic's API for processing. You own all AI-generated output. We do not claim any rights over translations generated on your behalf.

You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated translations before publishing them. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of AI output for any particular purpose. Translation quality may vary by language and subject matter.

5. Your data and content

You own your content. Projects, translation keys, and translations you create remain yours. You grant nlit a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the service to you.

Translation history and audit log data is retained according to your plan (see our Privacy Policy). When your plan is downgraded, data older than the new plan's retention window may be permanently purged.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use nlit to:

  • Store, process, or translate illegal, abusive, or harmful content.
  • Attempt to circumvent plan limits, access restrictions, or rate limits.
  • Use the Free tier to build a competing service or to systematically extract data at scale.
  • Gain unauthorised access to any nlit system or another user's data.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the nlit service.
  • Resell or sublicence access to nlit without our written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on severity.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The service is provided "as is". We will provide advance notice for planned maintenance where reasonably possible. We are not liable for losses caused by downtime, data loss, or service interruptions beyond what is stated in Section 9.

8. Termination

You may close your account at any time from account settings. Upon closure we will delete your personal data within 30 days.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms. For serious violations (illegal content, unauthorised access attempts) we may act without prior notice. For lesser violations we will give you reasonable opportunity to remedy the breach first.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, nlit's total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Changes to these Terms

We will notify you by email at least 14 days before making material changes to these Terms. Continued use of nlit after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to the changes you may close your account before the effective date.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Swedish courts, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
